How FATE Evolved

Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) began its search for a comprehensive educational program to equip participating high-school students with in-demand trade and technical skills. The entrepreneurial component was integrated to better prepare students to ensure a success transition to the workplace.

In 1971, the integration of an entrepreneurial component to ensure a successful transition for students to the workplace resulted in the formation of Fairfax County Vocational Education Foundation, Inc. (FAXVO). The organization’s name was then amended to the Foundation for Applied Technical Education, Inc. in 1991.

Influx of Resources

FATE has progressed by leaps and bounds in its objective to empower students with occupational and employability skills across numerous industry trades. The influx of representatives from a wide range of business and professional organizations in the present day has ensured plentiful resources, support, and career opportunities to students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

Creating Successful Careers

FATE is committed to enhancing participation in society and workforce development by encouraging students to become thoughtful and innovative, self-directed learners. The organization’s sponsored CTE programs provide students the confidence to pursue post-secondary education and broad-based global thinking that will propel them into successful careers.

BOARD TREASURER

Natalie Anzzolin is a principal with Thompson Greenspon and has been with the firm since 2002. She is responsible for providing accounting, auditing and tax services to clients engaged in various industries such as non-profit organizations, construction, small business, government contractors and employee benefit plans. Her experience includes overall accounting assistance, tax return preparation and compilation, review and audit services. Natalie was selected by her peers as one of the best CPAs in Virginia ("SuperCPA") in 2006 and 2013, as recognized by the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and Virginia Business Magazine. She is also a graduate of Upstream Academy’s Emerging Leaders development program.

Mr. Kieffer's legal practice focuses on Virginia commercial and residential real estate transactions, including representation of developers of condominium, single-family and mixed-use projects, formation of condominium and homeowners association governing documents, lease negotiation, subdivision deeds, easement agreements, and other instruments related to mixed-use developments.

He also works in his firm's litigation practice group, representing title companies in various real property disputes and representing hospitals with guardian/conservator appointments for incapacitated adults. Prior to law school, Mr. Kieffer worked for more than ten years in the commercial real estate industry.
